Wooden Alligator (a reconstruction)





Materials: Original piece was a combination stepladder, ironing board, chair. Nails, Wood Glue, Wood Tools, Table Saw, Sander Belt.  Goal: to create art that did not resemble the original chair and to use almost all the original materials.

Process: Find wooden "chair" at resale shop, Diassemble, Intuitive process included:
1. Create 4 legged body,
2. Create tail piece (removable).
3. Cut ironing board in half, used front curve of ironing board as mouth (mouth is on hinges so it can open and close), cut teeth.
4. Cut teeth and eyes.

Soap Eggs with Glass Carton




Materials: Soap, Sheet Glass

Egg Process: Liquify soap, pour into egg cast, let harden.
Glass Carton Process: Create clay mold of cardboard egg carton, fire in kiln. Coat clay with shelf resist, let dry. Cut sheet glass into random shapes, layer on top of clay mold in speical kiln. Fire for several hours, let cool.

Materials: Vintage Window, Splintered Saftey Glass (discovered dumped on side of dirt road), Super Glue.

Lotus Egg



Materials: Egg Shells, Plaster, Super Glue

Family Tree in Carton



Materials: Cardboard Egg Carton, Red Wax, Resin, Vintage Family Photos, Zots Adhesive.
Installation: Wall

Carton Process: Coat carton with melted red wax, allow to dry. Pour resin over surface, allow to dry.

Vintage Family Photos: Digital photos of vintage photos, used Picasa to shrink, printed onto regular paper, cut to size.

Final Assembly: Applied Zots to back of photo and arranged at bottom of carton.

Earth Eggs



Materials: Resin, Wooden Spheres, Acrylic Paint

Earth Process: Wooden spheres painted to resemble planet earth with acrylic paint.

Resin Egg Process: Silicone mold of eggs which were cut on the top half to allow resin to be poured. Molds poured half way full, partially dried, earth spheres added at the time. Resin dried fully, add resin to fill to the brim. Allow to dry, remove from molds, arrange as desired.
